5 Tips for Writing a Killer Thesis Statement
Permalink

Have you ever found difficulty in writing a thesis statement? I bet you have because no student ever said they know how to write a perfect thesis statement.

Students in high school are usually introduced to essays of advanced level and they have to learn to write thesis statements as well.

Yup, students’ worst nightmare is writing.

A thesis statement is the backbone of any essay. It's your argument or opinion on a given topic, and it should be clear and concise.

I have always found it hard to write a perfect thesis statement. When writing an essay that required a thesis statement, I would always pay someone to write my essay for me. It becomes hectic when you have points but you don’t know how to structure your thesis statement.

Before we dive into thesis writing tips, let me tell you one thing: thesis statement composition is not that hard but it’s still complicated. I have seen students making mistakes like, “this paper will analyze” or “In this paper”.

No, you don’t have to announce what you're going to add to this paper. You have to write a debatable thesis statement that is profound and has some depth into it.

Now let’s dive into the five tips!!!

Here are five tips for writing a killer thesis statement

1. Make your argument clear. Your thesis statement should make it clear what position you're taking on the topic. Either you are arguing against or in favor of the topic. You cannot take a middle stance.

  • ·         Don't try to cram too much into it.

  • ·         You want your reader to be able to understand it easily.

Obviously, if you would write one long sentence, and it wouldn’t even make sense; I bet you, your grades will be in a downward spiral. A paper writing service for college can easily teach you how to write a good thesis statement.

Furthermore, it’s better to start with a strong hook or attention-grabbing opening. This will help engage your reader right away.

One more thing!

Your thesis statement should be the last sentence of your introductory paragraph. By the time your reader gets to the end of that first paragraph, they should know what you're writing about and why it's essential. I wish I knew someone like a free essay writer, then I would have some tips guiding me in high school.

Hence, always write a thesis statement at the end of the introductory paragraph and don’t divide the introductory paragraph into two parts. Otherwise, the readers won’t be able to tell the ending of the paragraph and the beginning of the thesis statement.

Next up is strong language.

3. Use strong language. The stronger your language, the more convincing your argument will be. Avoid phrases like "I think" or "I believe." Instead, use words like "assert" or "claim." Learning vocabulary is super important.

If you use, “I think” or similar phrases, it will show that you are making assumptions and assumptions do not convince readers.

Whenever I need someone to do my essay for me, I do use it for learning ticks and trips. It’s better to learn to improve your writing skills. You should also do the same!

4. Stay on topic. Make sure your thesis statement relates directly to the essay topic at hand. If you find yourself going off on a tangent, reevaluate your thesis statement to see if it needs to be revised.

5. Be flexible. Your thesis statement may change as you write your essay, but make sure it always reflects your main argument. It happens when you are making several points and then have to go back and change your opinion.

It’s alright to change the thesis statement when you are done with your paper writing services. Make sure you proofread twice or thrice to know that your thesis statement is connecting with the body paragraphs.

I have read this quote and it perfectly describes the thesis statement.

"A good essay is like a mini skirt - short enough to keep you interested but long enough to cover the topic." ~~ Mary Schmich

This is one of the quotes that I have excessively used in my papers because I thought when I would like essay writing services for me, this quote would add weight to my paper.  So you would want your thesis statement to be like that little black dress or tailored suit that fits you perfectly and makes you feel confident.

You have to work on perfecting the art of thesis statements because otherwise, a weak thesis statement does not add too much value to your paper.

But sometimes, no matter how well you plan or how much you prepare, your thesis statement just doesn't seem quite right. Maybe it's too broad, or maybe it's too narrow. Maybe it lacks passion or maybe it tries to take on too much. If that happens, don't despair!

Just keep practicing and one day, you will have the perfect thesis statement. Don’t be afraid since you cannot escape writing in school, you will have to learn it.

Just be flexible and go back to tip number one: make sure your thesis statement reflects your main argument. With a little bit of tweaking, you'll have that killer thesis statement in no time.

With that said, these are the guidelines to write you a killer thesis statement.
