It is no secret that recycling and reusing are the only way forward to a sustainable and breathable environment. This is why the COP27 meeting brings the importance of embracing a circular economy model into the limelight. The meeting clearly explains how a responsible consumption and recycling model and sustainable resource management are much needed to reduce the growing volumes of waste and also, harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
So, why is creating a circular economy for plastic waste a need of the hour? If you are not already aware, India produces over 3.4 million tonnes of plastic every year. Unfortunately, the number is on the rise and causes disastrous environmental impacts.
What’s more, a circular economy modelwas also discussed in the 2022–2023 budget in light of the importance of increasing the adaptability of circular economy and sustainability. EPR rules and regulations are established to strengthen the purpose.
