I can tell you about an old method that my grandfather and father used. It's called pouring cold water on yourself. They would go out into their yard every morning and pour ice water over themselves. I'm a more modern person and I prefer a contrast shower. It helps improve my health.

The immune system is unlikely to become strong from cold water, although I do not hide it, a contrast shower is very good for the skin. You have to take different vitamins and not have bad habits like drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco.
