This small สล็อตออนไลน์experimental satellite aims to test the effectiveness of wood materials under harsh space conditions.

The project is a collaboration between Finnish businesses, including engineering companies. research satellite manufacturers as well as major timber producers And the European Space Agency has supported the mission by assisting in pre-flight testing and providing sensors to be installed inside the satellite.

The wooden satellite is a CubeSat, a small satellite used primarily for research by universities and non-profits.

The wooden satellite developed in Finland, called WISA Woodsat, is a cube-shaped satellite measuring just 10 centimeters per side. The main structure of the satellite is entirely made of wood. It was created by Arctic Astronautics, a Finnish company that manufactures and sells CubeSats for educational purposes.

Jari Makinen, co-founder of Arctic Astronautics and head of the Woodsat mission, told Reuters the goal of the project was to send a composite of wood-based satellites exposed to intense heat, cold, pressure and radiation in space.

The satellite will be the first wooden satellite to be launched into orbit, and Jari Makinen, the head of the Woodsat mission, said it will be the first test that we will be able to use the material to develop structures. In space in the future, for example, wood could be used to build parts of a spacecraft or space station. We are now beginning to study the behavior of wood in space.

The Finnish company UPM Plywood supplied birch lumber for the project. By using the method of heat drying the wood in a vacuum condition to dry it and increase its strength. Aluminum and oxygen-containing compounds are also used in the composition of wood.

UPM said it had carried out several tests on the wood. It has been found to perform well in harsh environments, and that Woodsat is made from sustainable composites that can be used as a replacement for fossil-derived materials widely used in the space industry.

Jari Makinen said in a statement: The latest test flight took place recently in Finland. The balloon carried the Woodsat satellite up to an altitude of 31 kilometers into the Earth's upper atmosphere, known as the stratosphere. The flight took about three hours and "All systems are operating as planned" and it is expected that when ready for the mission the Woodsat timber satellite will orbit at an altitude of about 500 to 600 km.

Jari Makinen went on to say that the Woodsat satellite will have two cameras. The satellite will be able to extend a camera out of the spacecraft with a “selfie stick” so mission operators can see what is going on with the satellite at all times. such as photographs of the surface of spacecraft Or see if and how the color of the outer surface of the craft will change? The selfie camera may also be able to capture cracks or other damage.

Makinen said he did not believe there would be a huge demand for wooden satellites anytime soon. Still, he believes there will certainly be a specific need to use the material made of wood in space.
